2 Things to Think About When Getting a Dumpster to Clean Out a Hoarder's House
If you are left with having to clean out the house of a hoarder after they have moved or died, you know that you can end up with a huge job. There are a lot of things that you are going to need to make the job easier for you to do. One of the things that you are going to need is a dumpster. If you are going to get a dumpster, there are some things that you are going to need to think about.
Permission
One thing that you are going to have to think about is getting permission to put the dumpster near the house. If you own the property, then this isn't a problem, but if you are dealing with a rental property, make sure that you have permission from the landlord before you place the dumpster. You don't want to end up causing the landlord more problems because they may charge you for having it there.
Permits
Permits are different from permission. That's because when you are getting permits, you are going to have to talk to your city and possibly your homeowner's association, depending on where you are and where you need to have the dumpster. If you have to park it on the street, you will likely need to get a permit from someone at your city's municipal building. It could be a permit from the police or you may have to go to a different department.
The permit may also have a limited life. For example, you may only be able to have the dumpster in one place for 7 days before you have to move it. One way to deal with that would be to have the dumpster emptied on that day and then placed in a slightly different position on your street. Of course, you will probably need to have another permit to do that, so make sure that you check when you get the original permit.
When you are talking to the homeowner's association about placing a dumpster on the street, make sure that you tell them that you have municipal permits and make sure that you tell them when you are going to have it removed.
Dealing with a hoarder is hard. Trying to deal with the mess after they have died or moved can be even harder. A dumpster rental can make it easier for you to deal with everything.
